Rethink your wardrobe and storage for a more organised home

Many Melbourne homeowners reach a point where the storage in their home simply stops working. Clothes pile up, hallways feel cluttered, and everyday items have nowhere to go.

The Kitchen Design Centre offers custom wardrobe renovations and storage solutions that change how your home feels and functions. Every piece is crafted in our Melbourne factory by qualified cabinet makers, backed by 60+ years of combined design and build experience. Your new wardrobe is built to fit your space, your storage needs, and your daily routine.

Bespoke wardrobe and storage cabinetry crafted for your home

Many of our clients add wardrobe and storage work to their kitchen or bathroom renovation. Walk-in wardrobe designs (also known as walk-in robes or walk-in closets), wine cellars, and hallway bench seats are just some of what we can design and build. We create custom cabinetry for every part of your home.

Every piece reflects the same craftsmanship that goes into our kitchens. Our cabinet makers measure, build, and finish each item to order, using high-quality materials selected for durability and lasting appearance.

What can you include in a wardrobe renovation?

A wardrobe renovation can include more than shelving. It can extend into walk-in wardrobe layouts, hallway storage, or integrated cabinetry that connects with other areas of your home, such as home offices and TV units. With TKDC, every fit-out is planned as part of a complete upgrade.

Whether you need a few internal upgrades or a full room transformation, your options can include:

  • Adjustable shelving and hanging systems that improve storage space and adapt over time.
  • Soft-close drawers and organisers that keep daily items easy to access.
  • Integrated lighting that improves visibility and everyday use.
  • Sliding or hinged wardrobe doors that suit your layout and support modern designs.
  • A precise wardrobe installation, fitted and finished to work exactly as intended.

Each solution is custom made, so every detail feels considered and consistent across your home.

Designed to fit your space and your routines

Every wardrobe design starts with how you use the space. Our team looks at your storage needs in detail, including what should stay within easy reach and what can be stored out of sight. This approach keeps your wardrobe functional and aligned with your daily routines.

During your Project Consultation, we assess layout, access, and how the wardrobe connects with surrounding areas. We work through your design details together, including finishes and layout, before your build begins. The result is better flow, smarter storage, and a clutter-free home.

What materials work best for wardrobe cabinetry?

The best wardrobe cabinetry uses quality materials that balance durability with a clean, consistent finish, backed by the same workmanship you’ll find across every TKDC renovation.

Options can include laminate, timber veneer, or painted surfaces, along with hinged or sliding doors suited to the space. Hardware such as runners, hinges, and handles is selected for smooth operation and long-term reliability.

At TKDC, every element of the cabinetry is chosen for performance as well as appearance. All pieces are built and tested to confirm fit and function before installation. This focus on durability helps your wardrobe hold up to daily use over time.

Our process for wardrobe and storage renovations

All wardrobe and storage projects follow a clear, structured path so you can move forward with confidence at each stage. TKDC applies the same proven approach used across our renovations, tailored to suit your space and requirements.

  1. Start with a Discovery Call. Complete our online form, or visit a showroom where our team can arrange one for you.
  2. We use your Discovery Call to understand your project and confirm it’s ready to move forward.
  3. Book your Project Consultation. A designer visits your home to assess the space and talk through your storage needs in detail.
  4. We confirm your custom design and costs before the build begins.
  5. Your custom cabinets are built in our Melbourne factory, with each piece checked for accuracy.
  6. Our installation team completes the fit-out on-site. It’s a hassle-free process, and we keep your home clean and protected throughout.
  7. Refer your friends and family. When someone you refer completes a project with us, you receive a $500 digital gift card as our thank you.

If your wardrobe project is part of a larger kitchen renovation, it becomes one renovation project and follows our kitchen consultation pathway instead, starting with a Showroom Tour and including a 3D design walkthrough in our showroom.

You are supported throughout by a dedicated client manager who keeps you informed at every stage. Each step is explained in advance, keeping the process stress-free and predictable from start to finish.

FAQs

  • Why choose a built-in wardrobe over a freestanding option?

A built-in wardrobe is designed to fit your space exactly, making better use of every wall, corner, and height. It also creates a more streamlined look and improves storage capacity. To see how a tailored solution could work in your home, speak with a designer at TKDC.

  • What type of wardrobe door should I choose?

The right door depends on your layout, access, and how much clearance you have. A sliding wardrobe is a practical choice for tighter rooms, while hinged doors allow full visibility when open. You can compare both options in person at our showrooms.

  • Can you match my wardrobe cabinetry to my kitchen or bathroom finishes?

Yes, your wardrobe cabinetry can be designed to align with finishes used in your bespoke kitchen or bathroom. This helps create a consistent look across your home, especially in open or connected spaces. A designer at TKDC can guide you through suitable combinations.

  • How do I get started with a wardrobe renovation at The Kitchen Design Centre?

Start with a Discovery Call, either online or at one of our showrooms. If your project is ready to progress, we book a Project Consultation, where a designer visits your home to plan your new wardrobe in detail.
