SURFACE FINISHES – Splashbacks
Of all the kitchen surface choices to be made, the splashback is often the last, and the least considered yet it is paramount to the overall look of the kitchen! It’s like the detailed decorations on a cake. It pulls the whole thing together and gives it style. The designers at The Kitchen Design Centre take great care to provide accurate information and advice on all the available splashbacks, recommending the best suppliers in the industry. The aim is to help the client choose the most suitable colours and textures for their kitchen. Options include tiles, both ceramic and porcelain, in varying shapes, sizes, colours and textures. Glass tiles are also available, and add a touch of elegance and sparkle to the wall. There are some lovely laminate colours and patterns available, but these are best used on wall areas that do not have radiant heat close by. Finally, and probably the most popular, are the solid glass splashbacks that come in a sheet (made to measure) and are applied to the wall in one piece. Clear, plain glass can be placed over a coloured mural or photograph to create a protected decorative feature. Also, plain glass can be painted on the back to add some colour to the room. Textured glass is also available to create a water/stone-like feature to the wall and, again, colour can be added to the back of the glass. Each splashback option adds a specific design element to the kitchen to complete and enhance the entire room.
