Where to add windows in the kitchen…
Sometimes, getting enough natural light into the kitchen space can be hard depending on where in the house the kitchen is located. There are ways to add in extra windows when designing your new kitchen, so talk with your kitchen designer about how this might be possible for your kitchen renovation.
Here are some clever examples:
Splashback window
This offers light at a benchtop level and can be done behind the cooktop, sink or preparation area.
Skylight
A skylight offers lovely overhead natural light with different intensities throughout the day as the sun passes over the house.
Bay or box bay window
Positioning a bay or box bay window behind the sink brings in extra light and allows for extra bench space making it the perfect spot to have a herb garden.
Servery window
A servery window that sits on the bench can be opened up completely allowing for service through to outside. This can also be done through a wall into an adjoining room which will borrow the night from that room when it’s needed.
