Kitchen Style Trends 2015 – Part 5
Part 5 – Modern Traditional
“Modern traditional” is increasingly becoming a favourite request amongst kitchen renovators. Most times when people renovate their kitchen, it’s because it’s old and needs to be replaced. If the kitchen is old then the house is old too and sometimes much older than the current kitchen. Because of this, it’s important to be able to marry the old with the new. There are a few directions this can be taken in. Ultra-modern can create a strong contrast between the old and new or full traditional can make it look like the kitchen has always been there forever. The new words on peoples lips for 2015 are “modern traditional”. This kitchen style is generally characterised by a profile door style with modern handles or benchtop. Or a flat, gloss door style with a traditional style benchtop like timber. Other smaller details that can be used are a tiled (subway style or laid like bricks) splashbacks or feature pendant lights. The secret to getting this “modern traditional” style correct is to have the right mix of old and new features or it just simply won’t work.
