Designing a Butler’s Pantry
When you can’t have a butler, get the pantry instead!
utler’s pantries are a huge trend at the moment, being requested by many who are renovating their kitchen. This is an area of speciality for the kitchen designers at The Kitchen Design Centre. A butler’s pantry is a space adjoining the main kitchen area which includes storage, preparation space, and a sink. Other appliances can also be included. The concept creates a space reflecting times gone by where butler’s had their own space to prepare their food service. Generally this useful storage and food preparation space can be created in two ways. First, existing space can be taken from an adjoining room such as a laundry or study. A doorway can be created from the kitchen to this space, and all cabinetry and benches installed as appropriate. Another way is to create the pantry-style room within the kitchen space itself by moving the main kitchen forward or aside and having a walk-through (galley style) butler’s pantry designed behind or alongside the main kitchen. Both styles can be designed and adjusted by our kitchen designers to suit the kitchen space and the lifestyle of the owner. Our Blackburn showroom is home to both of these styles of pantries (among others) so visit our showroom for a kitchen design that suits you and your home.
